The Temple by the sea
When I visited in October 2019 the story of the Temple in the Sea was an inspiration to me, as it is a story of perseverance and strength.
The temple was first built in 1947 by indentured labourer Sadhu, whose dream was to build a place of worship. That dream was short-lived as, five years later, it was destroyed by the government of the time since it was built on State-owned Caroni land. Not discouraged, Sadhu rebuilt the temple – this time in the sea to avoid the further incident.
For the next 25 years, Sadhu dedicated himself to completing the temple. On his bicycle and in a leather bag, he carried stone by stone, assembling the base of the temple. In 1994, the government at the time helped finish the temple in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the coming of Indians to the country. A pier was added to ensure the Waterloo Temple could easily be accessed during high tide.

National Academy for Performing Arts (NAPA)
Sitting on approximately 63,000 feet of land upon which the Princes Building Grounds was once located until it was demolished in 2007, NAPA is one of the four multi-faceted state-of-the-art National Performing Arts spaces in the country and one of the most distinctive buildings in Trinidad.
Officially opened in 2009, this majestic structure is outfitted with a 1500 seat theatre, dance room, piano room, sound lab, a lobby, a hotel and a spacious auditorium named after one our greatest calypsonians Lord Kitchener. The first presentation was a drama presentation by the National Theatre Arts Company of Trinidad and Tobago, since then NAPA was used to host a number of significant events including the grand opening of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), Heather Headley in Concert, the US National Symphony Orchestra, Colin Powell and Al Gore to name a few.

Queens Royal College & the magnificent seven
The main building itself is one of the Magnificent Seven, a group of historic buildings built in the early 1900s. The North and South buildings, known as the North Block and Science Block respectively, were built during the late 1930s. The school in standings is the best nationally and regarded as the best as well by most citizens.
Forever Friendships
So many exciting things from my trip to Trinidad, however, the best and most memorable was my new friend. Before we arrived on the island we were cautioned about the dangers and the people. So you can imagine my surprise when I met my new friend Yoyo ??.
Thank you, Yoyo for breaking our expectations and showing us that people can still be amazing. We love you ??
