Sightseeing In Intinan Solar Museum

As you may know I have been in Quito Ecuador for a bit now, however I will be leaving soon. Now that business is compleated it is time to get back to discovery. I spent the last year working continuously and have had no time whatsoever to do what I actually enjoy most. So the decision is made, I will spend the month I have left rediscovering a few of my favourite places and more.

Recently I visited the Intinan Solar Museum which is in Mitad del Mundo (Manuel Cordova Galarza, Quito). This is a museum showcasing exhibits from places on the equator, plus equator-related science experiments. It’s $2 for kids six to twelve years od and$4 for adults. Opens from Sunday to Sunday 9:30 am – 5pm. Tel:+5932 239-5122.

Inti ñan” comes from the Quichua words Inti (sun) and Ñan (path). Therefore, Intiñán corresponds to the words “Camino del sol” in Spanish. There were two houses that recreate costumbristas objects and a totemic forest. There are also guides that gives the historical info of the different focal points in the museum.

I didn’t use a guide but listened to the interesting stories about the different huts and buildings. I do recommend this excursion to those interested in the history and culture of Ecuador. This visit will take less than an hour.
